All of your waste is returned to our recycling facility in Caldicot where we have a range of processes to separate recyclable materials for reuse or recycling:
- Inert wastes (hardcore, bricks, stone and soils) are crushed and screened to produce aggregates for construction and highways use.
- Cardboard and paper are baled and sent to a paper mill for recycling into new cardboard packaging and paper products.
- Plastic bottles, film and other plastics are separated, baled and sent to reprocessors to be turned back into plastic pellet for use in the manufacture of new products.
- Metal cans and scrap are bulked and sent for recycling by a local metal recycling facility.
- Wood is bulked and sent to a specialist wood recycler to be chipped to size for use in the manufacture of panelboard (chipboard, OSB, particleboard, etc).
We separate as much material as we are able to for recycling. Any residual waste is sent for further reprocessing to recover the remaining recyclable materials. Once all of the recyclable materials that can be practically removed are segregated and recycled the remaining (residual) waste is sent for disposal at an 'energy from waste' facility or to landfill.
